[Men's Rugby] RedStorm pounds The Rock for playoff win

    RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Sometimes, momentum swings are a gradual process.
    Sometimes, those same swings can happen in an instance.
    Such was the case for the University of Rio Grande men's rugby team in its meeting with Slippery Rock University on Saturday afternoon at Red Valley Pitch.
    After a hard-fought and tightly-contest opening half, the RedStorm scored a pair of quick tries immediately following the intermission and went on to post a 41-24 win over The Rock in the semifinal round of the Allegheny Rugby Union Champions Cup.
    Rio Grande, which is ranked No. 5 nationally in the National Collegiate Rugby Small Schools coaches' poll and the top seed in the ARU playoff bracket, improved to 8-0 with the victory.
    The win also sends the RedStorm to Sunday's championship game against No. 3 seed Franciscan University, which ousted second-seeded Robert Morris University, 29-26 in overtime, in Saturday's second semifinal matchup.
