EORU JR REP ACADEMY: FALL 2021 PROGRAM

0 32

Our fall program launches on Sunday, September 12th. We will run Sundays, 9 am-11 am at TERP, for the months of September and October. This will allow our registered Jr Rep players to play 7s with their clubs for the Fall 7s Series. There will be no rugby training on Thanksgiving weekend and there will be no training session the morning of Sunday, Sept. 26th as the afternoon is dedicated to the combine (see below).

In November we will revert to Saturdays – also 9 am to 11 am – for a couple of weeks until it’s too cold and we move indoors for the winter.

We welcome all registered rugby players born 2004 – 2007 to our Fall Academy. This year’s fees are $140 which includes participation (not mandatory) in the combine. The combine will be held on Sunday, September 26th, from 2 – 6 pm at TERP. More information is below.

Anyone who is interested must register by this coming Friday for participation in this Sunday (September 12) training session. If you plan to start training after this weekend, you can register next week.

For Kingston-area players, you will be able to train with the Panthers on Sunday (late afternoons) and compete in the RO Fall 7s (Club 7s) on Saturdays. You will be training in Ottawa on Sunday mornings with the Ottawa area Jr Rep players starting Sunday, Sept 12th (9am – 11am). Come November, you will move indoors to a Kingston-based facility. Full details on the EORU Jr Rep Kington indoor program will be announced in October. Your registration with the EORU Jr Rep Academy Fall Program includes your participation in the combine.

REGISTRATION EORU JR REP ACADEMY FALL PROGRAM can be found here.

Kit is not included in registration. We will take new kit orders (same design as last year) at the end of September.

RCDA/OBJAA SELECTIONS
Once again, the Rugby Canada Development Academy and the Ontario Blues Junior Arrows Academy will run an “Ontario East” joint RCDA/OBJAA academy for 2021-2022. This program is for RO registered players residing full-time in Ontario (government funding has been secured for three years). Anyone who is interested must be registered with the EORU Jr Rep Academy (see registration above). Since part of the program involves indoor training at a gym, proof of double vaccination against COVID-19 will be required upon selection to the program. The second vaccination will have had to be received by mid-October in order for any player to start the program on time.

Criteria for selection to the academy and expectations of the players once selected will be published before the Combine. Criteria and expectations will be sent out via newsletter, posted on the EORU Jr Rep Academy’s 2021/2022 google classrooms, and published on the EORU website.

Selections will be confirmed in mid-October with training (in addition to EORU training) to begin in early November. RCDA/OBJAA training will take place on Tuesday evenings starting at 6:30 pm, Friday evenings starting at 5:30 pm, and Saturday (for EORU Jr Rep Ottawa; EORU Jr Rep Kingston date and time is TBC) evenings from 7 to 9 pm. Players will be required to participate in a cross-region training session (including west, central and east) every 6 to 8 weeks. Locations TBA.

COMBINE ONLY
For those players registered with their home club but not participating in the EORU Jr Rep Fall Program, there is an opportunity to participate in the combine only. The fee is $35. Registration can be found here.

There will be no walk-ons at the combine.

WINTER REGISTRATION
Winter registration will open in late October. For the winter, we plan to train Saturday nights at the Ben Franklin Dome, from 7 to 9 pm. Kingston’s facility, date, and time are TBC. We will run until the end of March. All participants will be required by law to be double vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination will be required upon registration.

If you have any questions about the academy or RCDA/OBJAA, please contact Program Manager LeeEllen Carroll at leeellenrugby@gmail.com. Thank you.
