The Virtual Terrace • Coaching on the field

Sick of seeing the wire physio. He was on the pitch longer than some of the players. Was clearly coaching. Absolutely disgraceful - Why is this being allowed?!?
Ps I’m a neutral who had a bet on wire- but this was just wrong.
I never notice it on TV but it annoys the hell out of me at games. Wire are one of the worst ones, but all teams do it. Wire's is just comical as he follows the play around directing them but then sarcastically waves the water bottle as he's running away to suggest he's just innocently offering some essential H2O. It always amazes me with Wire as they've got probably the best part of a million quid spent on world class halfbacks yet still need to be coached through the game. He's run into Warrington players quite a few times as he's running across the pitch coaching them too. We counted this during the derby at Wigan recently and at one point there was four high-vis merchants and a spare ball on the pitch when the game was going on.
Another thing that annoyed me at Magic was players going down for treatment at strategic moments. It happened almost every turnover in the second half of the Saints v Catalans game and as with the physio coaching, a lot of clubs do it, but it's incredibly annoying. The referees stop the game and shrug and apologise to the other team. It needs looking at, possibly by the player having to go off for treatment unless it's declared serious. In that instance the player then has to go off for a period to be assessed, to prevent injured players trying to continue and also to prevent teams cheating by stopping games to get a breather or stop a team's momentum.
