Firstly, this is not a thread to criticise Kalepi. Also, this isn’t aimed to provoke an anti Chester rant as I don’t want it turning into a get rid of Chester thread. You could argue majority of last year he was our standout player. For whatever reason this season although he’s been solid he hasn’t had near enough the same impact.
My main concern with him though is that he seems to have been migrating into the prop position since last year and seems now to be almost exclusively playing prop for us. Now with a Fifita likely out a month or two it looks like he’ll be spending most of the season propping.
He is no doubt least effective (though he does a job) at prop.
I remember the barnstorming runs back on the inside, the way the guy hit the gaps out wide and scored a number of clean breaks. He was unplayable at times in the second row position.
I understand that we have needs at prop but there have been games this season where I felt we would have benefitted having him running his natural position.
Do we think he will remain at prop or should we see him back in the second row ASAP? I hope he can regather his form. He was an absolute beast last season.
