There are some interesting rules around refund policy. The event i referred to earlier in the thread was deferred from last year to this, however at this stage we are stil uncertain whether it will go ahead or not. The company will only offer the entrants a deferral for 1 year, so if it doesnt go ahead this year it looks like we will all lose our money, and not be offered the opportunity to compete next year.
i looked it up briefly and there are things like concerts (bought 1st hand) you could claim full refund, if bought through a reselling site, then more difficult, and then it used a marathon as the example, where the organiser had no obligation to offer full refund. Obviously with that, they are taking a risk that if they run an event at a future date, then entrants will come back to them as they arent cheap to enter
