There are s many reasons why supporting the French game helps us and the game long term but its not even worth going into it.
Congratulations to Leigh they deserve it, but hopefully (but cannot see it) we get back to a 14 team SL asap, get Lindon Toulouse Newcastle York, even Fev up to speed, get back to franchises snd gave the guts to kick out some of the perpetual deadwood clubs, (they know who they are)
Sadly the first deadwood club is Les Catalans. They took all the best French players in 2006 with a view to professionalising them and bringing back the England.v.France tests. That eventually failed. Their French player development also failed and with Yaha out of favour and Casty gone their First team just ain't French any more. There was spare money to invest in French players this last season but Gausch spent it all on the controversial Folau.
Toulouse sadly followed and have few French players in their team and would have none if they entered SL. But they have no money to speak of and their last two play off crowds were only around 1,000 a game. French TV aren't interested in Rugby League any more than SKY would be interested in RL here if Salford and Halifax were the only two "big" clubs we had.
You "won't go into it" because you can't, but your not alone.
The problem is when discussing which clubs are best set to take the game forward a good number of fans seem to judge which clubs it should be in terms of their suitability for a short holiday break. On that Basis London and York must both be first picks for the English Superleague.
Oh and bring back Scarborough Pirates for the beaches........... But I won't go into that
