I take your point entirely as usual, but in terms of the principle of Club Chairmen "topping up" their clubs income whether it be Ian Lenegan at Wigan or Roman Abramovitch when he was the main man at Chelsea or (insert stinking rich individual) at (insert top Rugby Union club) what would you have the game do?
Only allowing commercial and gate revenue to be re-invested in sports clubs would wipe $Billions off the sporting world.
The games - all three of them are often won in the boardroom and not on the pitch. That there is a salary cap goes a long long way towards ensuring Superleague is more of a competition than soccer or Union??
And I suppose the Marquee thing keeps the very rich interested? Ken Davey seems to have a long term commitment without making massive bids for players, but on the other side of the coin Marwan Koukash lost interest because his spending was restricted?
Thoughts??
How do you know the reason(s) why Dr Koukash left?
Isn't it wonderful how a M62 club owner can repeatedly post annual losses, breach the salary cap, appoint Elstone and vote against Toronto. You should start a petition to have Lenagan knighted.
