How good or bad he is isn’t the point is it We need to create our own quality players and they won’t get a chance if the available places are choked up by ageing NRL retirees.
It baffles me why people don’t get that. There is a place for overseas players but only those who want a long term career in SL. It not about age though clearly that is a factor, it’s about the long term.
Where as players like Tupou or Fifita will commit to SL for their playing life and even beyond Marshall won’t. He will arrive, take his money and if we are lucky will put in some decent stints. That to me is short term thinking.
Luckily I doubt we could afford him and I doubt he’d join a club like ours. Sadly he’ll join someone like Wigan and by doing so stop the progression of all the young talent said club have hoovered up. Those players will become disillusioned and will probably not full fill their potential - vicious circle imo.
