Couldn’t Catalans run a reserve side that plays in the french league? In fact don’t they already do this to a degree? If not then could that be workable and get round the mid week travel for reserve games? If not then maybe a crazy idea like some proper planning of fixtures could work although granted travelling to Toronto will always be difficult but if they are to work they need a structure because the money will run out eventually.
On another point, as Catalans and Toronto don’t take any money and the remaining teams get a bigger slice as a result, can we not imagine them being kept in and the teams (like my own) developing players can be patted on the back for our efforts by super league? I mean plenty of teams have been threatened with expulsion unless they meet this weeks criteria but how many have actually been chopped due to ignoring it?
