Hornet’s Second Division Men Battle Hard in the Provincials!
The Hornet’s Second division team traveled to Edmonton on September 27th to prepare to battle the Grand Prairie Centaurs for the Provincial Title. It has been 6 years since the Hornets made it to the second division final game.
The team met at the Four Points Sheraton to start to prepare for the battle. Led by their fierce leader Coach Wayne Williams the boys first prepared mentally regarding their game plan. Things started to fall together as they all arrived and got on the same page and did some team bonding over story telling.
In the morning the team met together to feast once more as a group before hitting the battle field. After that a short team meeting to review the plan and to make sure all were on the same page.
Then some taping and off to the field for the warm up prior to the battle!
The Boys fought very hard right from the initial kick off and drove the Centaurs the entire field but were unable to capitalize any points prior to an unfortunate penalty. The Centaurs were able to capitalize on the opportunity and worked there way down the field to score a try. The Hornets would fall behind by 4 tries in the first half of the game and it was looking rough for them to be able to battle back.
As the second half started the boys found their legs and started an assault on the score board and work their way back to a 40 – 32 deficit. Unfortunately the team ran out of time to complete the comeback but they must hold their heads high as everyone wearing Black’n yellow were extremely proud of these soldiers in this battle.
