*ITS 100 FOR WEBBER *
Tonight sees Alex make his 100th appearance for the club.
Hailing from Ferndale, Alex Webber came through the hugely successful Rhondda Schools system as a member of the dominant Dewar Shield squad.
Graduating from junior level as a strong, fast winger or full back, Webber also made his mark as a rugby league player with the Celtic Crusaders and was capped by Wales Youth in the thirteen man code.
Continuing his love of rugby union, Alex played for his local club Ystrad Rhondda and was part of the successful team in their successful climb to Division One level.
The power and pace that Webber displayed, as well as his capability as a potent try scorer, was already making a mark and New Zealand beckoned.
Playing for Greyston Marists in New Zealand, Alex gained massive experience and came back with a hunger to develop his rugby career. It wasn’t long until his talent was recognised and whilst back playing for Ystrad Rhondda, Webber was called up to the Wales Sevens development squad and then the senior squad. He went on to cement his place in that squad during the IRB and World Cup tournaments of 2013.
His first time in a Ponty jersey was as a permit player and he was part of the winning team with a win over Neath in January 2013,.
Alex then signed up for Pontypridd in readiness for the following season. Since his arrival at Sardis Road, he has established himself as a prominent attacker and try scorer , and is a respected and popular member of the senior squad.
Alex is employed as a training instructor with MPCT.
Congratulations from us all Webbs! Heres to the next 100 appearances
