Review of Saturday’s game

Two narrow losses to the same opposition during the league campaign did not prove to be an issue when it came to the game that mattered on Saturday in the BT Premiership play off with Currie.

From the first scrum to the last try this was a thoroughly dominant display by a team with ambitions well beyond semi final rugby. While it may not quite have been perfect in the first half the damage was done and with a significant impact from the bench the second 40 minutes saw some sparkling open rugby resulting in a comprehensive home win. And with Ayr snatching a last gasp win over Melrose the BT Premiership final will be played at Millbrae on Saturday 6 April 15:00 kick off.

With the advent of Super 6 merely a few months away it could be some time before we play Currie again and we wish them well in the new look championship.

The Ferry Road Wanderers kept up the pressure on the Peebles and Accies in East Reserve 2 with a fine win over Leith with 3 games remaining – next up its Lismore/Portobello on Friday 29th – time to be confirmed.

And so to this weekend – Hawick in the Scottish Cup semi final at Goldenacre with the later kick off -16:00 – to accommodate those supporters also going to Murrayfield to watch the Edinburgh v Munster European Cup quarter final – kick off 12:45.

With the long range weather forecast looking favourable things should be set up nicely for another game of high quality, high tempo rugby so keep the faith and get along to Goldenacre this weekend.
