In the heady days of the 1970's there was no salary cap - if a club could afford to take the risk, they took the risk.

If we could sign a RU player on nil salary cap for 4 years, great, go ahead. Unfortunately I think someone like Burrell will want £200k+ easy. In year one that's not an issue as he wont count on the cap, but in year two he'll probably have the same cap value as someone like Ratchford. I just don't see how it can be considered a sensible move - unless I am grossly exaggerating his potential RU earnings.

EDIT: The most intriguing nugget of information being that the average wage is 15% higher in the Aviva Premiership, at £200,000

Looks like £200k isn't too far off. Considering he was playing International games a couple of years back, I assume his current salary is above average?
