Hull FC chief executive James Clark has addressed the club’s recruitment for 2019 in light of Adam Pearson’s comments in the autumn which suggested an overhaul of the squad was on its way.
Pearson spoke passionately on the back of Hull’s 80-10 defeat at Warrington Wolves and explained that ‘three or four proper signings’ would arrive at the KCOM Stadium for next year.
FC have added depth to their squad with the subsequent acquisitions of Jordan Thompson, Danny Langtree, Levy Nzoungou and Matty Dawson-Jones, but some fans have been left frustrated.
Adam is probably one of the most passionate people I’ve come across in terms of his love for sport and his commitment to this club, and I think understandably there was a reaction from him because he demands the best from his club and his staff,” Clark told League Weekly
In the cold light of day we only want to bring players to this club who ( a) will make us better and
( b) fit our culture.
“Adam and Lee (Radford) and I have made it clear from day one that unless we find a person who fits that bill then we’re not going to go out and sign somebody for the sake of it.
We have 30 players who have played Super League and that’s where we feel we might have an edge. We believe our first choice 17 gives any other team a run for their money.”
