Thinking about it, as we all knew Sky own the rights, it was never going to happen except in the unlikely event that Sky sold the Championship rights - which nobody would offer anything significant to buy as it has to be a commercial venture.
Next time round, the Championship clubs should tell the RFL to fekk off unless a certain number of games are screened and sufficient money is paid for the rights to the Championship clubs. Or if no screening, then they get a significant extra slice of cash for giving away the rights to screen their own games. I have a feeling that would never have happened at the last deal if Chalmers had been around in the Championship negotiating team.
Certainly many of the League 1 games last year were more entertaining and better viewing than some of the bilge at times served up by some SL teams.
