Wakefield Trinity • Chester signs 3 year deal

I agree with your original comment. Although we have done very well considering our resources, after a few good seasons of relative success at the right end of the table, perception starts to change, from plucky over overachievers to a team with a good squad who should be up there. It's a bit like what happened with Cas, Powell got them up at the right end of the table after being near the bottom and people thought they'd end up back there but he's kept their standards high year on year since and now are considered almost a given for top 4 nowadays. We're not quite there yet but not far off. When you look at the quality in the team now it's night and day compared to just a few years ago, I don't know how MC has done it but whatever we spend they're worth every penny.

Without doubt the work done by MC has been phenomenal. Also with Chester being able to attract the right level of player whilst staying in budget and then improving the player also has laid the foundations for you going forward. Maybe as you say with Cas and Powell there is something with the coach feeling at home at his home town club which challenges them to make them the best they can be.

It is pretty obvious that slight bit more cap available would allow you to possibly push that little further, but without getting into the politics of it all if a new stadium was able to be built, given the product on the pitch being as good as it is would a new stadium attract enough fans back to allow you to spend the full cap?
