All good points. A half back is only as good as the players outside him, if he's got options then there's doubt in the defenders minds straight away. If there aren't any options or you run the same few plays then it's easy to mark people out if the game, or just hold positions and make easy tackles. Once a defender is unsure what to you're more likely to see a mistake or a misread and then gaps appear or you can make a break.
