On a sweltering afternoon, which allowed for some outstanding open and skilful rugby, it was Ciren who scored first through full back Zeb Waite, after some delightful approach work from Ciren fly half Iwan Thomas and the conversion kicked by Thomas 0-7. The home side then hit back with their first attack of the game bring the score level at 7-7.

The Ciren backs were a threat during the entire game enabling the away team to hit back, this time it was Thomas who scored with winger Ice Raione making a wonderful pass, 7-12. Somewhat against the run of play Longlevens scored their own try to take the lead for the first time in the game 14-12.

This incredible game just kept giving with Waite completing his brace, making the half time score 14-19.

The second half started in a scrappy fashion with both sides feeling the effect of the heat. It was Longlevens who scored two quick fire tries to suddenly take the score to 28-19. But the young and energetic Ciren side were not finished and hit back through the impressive Ciren scrum half Adam Harrison, which was followed by a Thomas penalty taking the scores to 28-26.

Longlevens scored and converted again it was now 35-26. As nerves were tested and with just five minutes to go, Longlevens gave a penalty and Ciren kicked to bring the score nailbitingly close to now 35-29.

In the final move of the game Ciren pushed the ball wide to find their speedy winger Tom Woodward who crashed over for a try, 35-34. From wide out Thomas had the conversion kick to win the game. Sadly, for the Cotswold side the ball sailed narrowly wide. In a game the saw ten tries, both sides deserved credit for the entertainment served up in conditions that were testing.
