Warrington Wolves • Danny Brough.

Brough was a very good player but is a declining force now.

I can see why people make comparisons with Briers - both had superb kicking games and both were fairly unusual among British halves in that they can control a game and some games would be so single-handedly dominant that they would be the difference. But Briers was more talented and matured as a person better than Brough.

Interesting what duckie says that he would show it in the right team. I think Brough likes being the main man and probably being able to get away with stuff he wouldn't be able to at say Leeds or Wigan. He did play for some good teams - he won the Challenge Cup with Hull, and Huddersfield under Paul Anderson were a strong side and Brough was superb back then. But some of his career moves seemed strange - leaving Hull mid season to drop a division for Castleford then signing for Wakefield. It's like the business of playing for Scotland internationally as well - he's the main man and people probably look up to him there.

I respect the fact he fought his way up to Super League from York City Knights as a young player.
