there is no evidence other than what we see and hear from the club. isn't that enough?!
players who've played for us for 18 months either having been signed or having come through the youth system asking for star wages after a decent season, players having one decent season and assuming they are ready to go to Aus and tear it up, players practically holding wigan to ransom via their agents for megabucks and playing considerably poorer ever since (Williams, TT, J Tomkins etc).
do you really think that wigan would be letting Sam leave if they had the money to play with? the answer is they wouldn't, absolutely not. would the likes of MM and FPN have gone (barring FPNs desire to leave of course)? Kris Radders himself publically said they were right close to cap limit BEFORE FPN left. the club is practically admitting their wage structure is on its backside (or at the least, has been).
do you think that wigan would be able to offer the rumoured big contract to Bateman if Sam wasn't leaving too? I don't think they would. a wigan team without Sam and potentially bateman is absolutely not through choice, it would be through necessity. therefore, yes I feel mismanagement is to blame and this season (and into next no doubt) we will see the repercussions. we've seen some already.
