Wakefield Trinity • Re: Belle Vue back on?

It would appear that the club have been royally shafted by all of this

Thinking of the two sites, I would say that most fans would prefer the Belle Vue development over Newmarket, but should situations arise, the plans could well be restrictive.

As for Newmarket, it isn't everybody's cup of tea, as it is a bit out of the way for some, but on the other hand, I feel there could be a bit of scope should the situation require it.

Reading back on some comments earlier in the week regarding other towns and cities sports facilities, the Barnsley ground isn't new, but has had a few developments in the 90s to bring it into line and Hull KR moved into their stadium in 1989, barely new, but again, upgraded bits at a time as and when they could and needed to.

One other thing, I read a few weeks ago, that the owner of OSsett Albion had huge ambitions of turning them into a professional club. Now I don't follow football as closely, and don't know how realistic this is, but how many tiers are they off, say League Two. Their current ground wouldn't accommodate the capacity requirements, so I can only see a groundshare as a viable option, with us waiting so long for a stadium, can't see the council approving another stadium in such a short space of time.

However, should this happen, and they go pro, and they progress even further like what Wimbledon did in the 80's, would either NM or BVs capacity accommodate them.

With potential of further revenue streams from visiting football teams, nearly twice as many games in a domestic football season, and with the FA probably having more oomph than the RFL, this could put huge pressure on WMDC and York court to deliver

They’ve already got plans to level and re lay the pitch , also changing, club house and hospitality facilities.
