Whether we agree with him or not, I reckon it's a pretty sad state of affairs when a bloke of Smith's calibre is going public with his true feelings. Sour at losing his job? - the guy's too long in the game to say what he's saying because he's finished at Wire.
Like us, he just desperately wants it to be run (much) better so it can punch it's real weight commercially and get the profile it's deserved for too Fff'ing long. And I'd wager he's probably got some decent ideas - and the nouse to get 5h1t done.
So let him go to Onion, or disappear from the game like so many other good rugby league people?
Or, give him a job?!
