Watch Sam Alvey knock Tyrone Spong out cold to win second Karate Combat title, call out Eddie Hall
Sam Alvey delivered the biggest knockout of his career in the main event of Karate Combat 54 on Friday in Dubai.
The company’s light heavyweight champion moved up a weight class to compete for a second title against combat sports great Tyrone Spong and showed crisp striking from the go, hurting Spong with leg kicks and one-two combinations to the head.
An unintentional eye-poke to Alvey forced a brief stop to the action early in round two. When cleared to return, Alvey dropped Spong with a huge left hand, connecting another punch that had the veteran kickboxer out cold on the ground.
“I felt great, but there is no denying he’s the most intimidating man alive,” Alvey said after the win. “He just has that look, he got that resume that cannot be touched. I was honored to train for. I don’t think I’ve ever trained harder. He is the man.”

Now undefeated in four Karate Combat matches and a champion in two divisions, Alvey issued a callout for his first defense of the heavyweight gold.
“You know what I wanna do?” Alvey said. “First, I gotta defend my light heavyweight belt. I’m going back down. But second — record this everyone —, Eddie Hall, I’m going to kick your ass — respectfully. You’re incredible. I’ve seen what you’re doing. I want a piece.”
