Carrie Underwood Dishes On Her Surprise Appearance on 'Cobra Kai' Season 4!

Carrie Underwood is opening up about her surprise appearance on season four of Cobra Kai!

The 38-year-old singer popped up in the ninth episode of the current season, airing on Netflix, surprising not just fans of the show, but actors on the set as well.

In the episode, Carrie makes her appearance at the karate tournament to perform Survivor’s 1984 hit “The Moment of Truth,” and gives them a motivational speech just ahead of their fights.

“We had all these extras there, hundreds of people,” executive producer and co-showrunner Jon Hurwitz shared with TVLine about Carrie‘s appearance. “Nobody knew that Carrie Underwood was about to perform in front of this audience, so the reaction that you see on screen is the reaction. It was natural, which was, “Holy s–t, what the hell is going on here?”

Turns out that a tweet Carrie had posted about the show got her the gig, too.

“No one would ever expect somebody at the level of Carrie Underwood to be there, but we reached out and wrote a letter,” he added. “We’re all fans of her work and appreciated her love of the show, so we asked if she would mind popping down from Nashville and heading over to Atlanta to spend a day on set and perform this remake of one of the songs from the original Karate Kid soundtrack. She was game immediately. She appreciated it and was excited. This was a fun thing for her family for her to appear on the show, and to step in front of this All Valley crowd who had no idea that she was going to be appearing. It was amazing.”

Carrie also opened up about her appearance, sharing in a statement that she “grew up watching Daniel and Johnny, and I can’t believe I actually get to be a small part of the legacy that is the Karate Kid.”

She added, “Once I discovered Cobra Kai a few years ago, it became one of my favorite shows! I had so much fun being on the set and singing such a classic song. I cannot wait to watch every new episode!”
