Welsh Judo Vacancy: Head of Performance and Pathway
Welsh Judo Association is seeking an exceptional Head of Performance and Pathway to lead Welsh judo into its next chapter.
Location: Sport Wales National Centre, Cardiff (flexible working arrangements considered)
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (37 hours/week)
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
This is a senior, strategic role that goes far beyond coaching. You will shape the vision, culture, and systems that drive long-term success across our performance and pathway programmes, with athlete and staff wellbeing at the heart of everything you do — and with a clear focus beyond the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Performance Committee, and Sport Wales, you will collaborate with an external reviewer to conduct a full review of our performance and pathway operations. You’ll design a new strategic framework aligned with the WJA’s next Strategic Plan, develop coaches, oversee the full athlete pathway, and represent Welsh Judo both nationally and internationally.
With a new Strategic Plan launching in 2027, this is a rare opportunity to lead ambitious, values-driven change and help position Wales as a force in the sport.
Closing date for applications: 12:00pm, 20 May 2026
Interviews: Week commencing 8 June 2026
To apply, please send a CV and covering letter outlining your experience and suitability for the role to:
