Team GB Selects Six Judoka for European Youth Olympic Festival 2025

0 2

Team GB has selected 6 GB judoka to represent the team at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) which will take place in Skopje, North Macedonia, from the 20th-26th of July 2025.

With more than 30 years of tradition, the European Youth Olympic Festival is the largest multi-sport event for young athletes aged 14 to 18.

The Festival, which takes place under the auspices of the European Olympic Committees, gives young athletes their first taste of Olympism and allows them to gain invaluable experience for further competitions on their way to the Olympic Games.

This event will welcome more than 4,000 athletes and team officials from 49 European National Olympic Committees, meaning our judo team will face the best Europe has to offer!

The squad selected is as follows:

Sara Coni (Camberley JC, Nippon Club London) – After a string of podium finishes, including a gold medal at the Genova Cadet European Cup, and a recent appearance at the Cadet European Championships, Coni has been selected to represent Team GB in the -44kg category and goes into the event as one of GB’s most in-form athletes.

Taylor Chrisp (Blyth Juno Michi) – Off the back of her second appearance at the Cadet European Championships, Chrisp will bring her aggressive, determined fighting style to the EYOF in the -48kg category.

Coen Gilbert (Sportif) – Another judoka in incredible form, Gilbert has taken medals this year at the Porec and Samorin Cadet European Cups, and recently put on a top performance at the Cadet European Championships, where he claimed bronze in the -50kg category and took the only British medal of the tournament.

Jack Milligan (Wirral JC) – A technically gifted and intelligent competitor in the -60kg category, Milligan has continued to build both confidence and results throughout the season. His recent appearance at the Cadet European Championships provided valuable experience on the international stage, reinforcing his status as one to watch.

Vasiliy Menshykov (Garioch JC) – Competing in the -66kg category, Menshykov has shown impressive maturity and consistency this year. With a composed win in his opening fight at the Cadet European Championships, he has firmly established himself as a serious contender in the division.

Lenny Tancock (Bishops Stortford JK) – In the -73kg category, Tancock has demonstrated a strong balance of domestic dominance and international success. He secured a silver medal at the Porec Cadet European Cup and gained further top-level experience with his second consecutive appearance at the Cadet European Championships.

We congratulate all of those selected by Team GB as our brightest young stars to compete at this prestigious event, and wish you all the best of luck!
