54 British Judoka Ready to Compete in Tunis and Samorin
A total of 53 British judokas are set to compete in the Tunis African Open, the Tunis Junior African Cup, and the Samorin Cadet European Cup between February 13th and 16th.
Tunis Junior African Cup 2025
The weekend’s first event, the Tunis Junior African Cup, takes place today, February 13th, with nine British judoka competing.
Laurence Hill and Evan Price, a bronze medallist at the 2023 British Championships, will represent Britain in the -55kg category.
In the -73kg category, Bradley Stoke teammates Ben Moore and Oriol Rubio Ruiz will compete. Ruiz had a successful 2024 in Africa, winning gold at the Marrakech Cadet African Cup and silver the day before in the junior edition of the tournament.
Kylan Aylward will be the sole British competitor in the -81kg category. He aims to improve on his 5th-place finish at last year’s Algiers Junior African Cup. His Dragons Academy teammate and recent WCPP recruit, Lola Hodson, who won bronze in the Senior British Championships and silver in the Juniors, will compete in the -52kg category alongside Amie McMurray, who placed 5th in the Junior British Championships.
Another Bradley Stoke competitor, Millie Bayliss, the reigning -63kg British Junior Champion and last year’s Marrakech Junior African Cup gold medallist, will compete in the -63kg category.
Rounding out the squad is Dragons Academy’s Paige Keane, who will take on the -70kg category as she looks to build on her 3rd-place finish at the British Championships.

Tunis African Open 2025
The next event in Tunis featuring British participation is the Tunis African Open, scheduled for Saturday, February 15th, and Sunday, February 16th.
A total of 13 British judoka will compete, many of whom are also participating in the previously mentioned junior event.
New names to highlight include Sidney Tancock in the -48kg category, aiming to build on her bronze medal at the British Championships and silver at the Malaga Senior European Cup in late 2024. She will be joined by Ashleigh Barnikel, another Bradley Stoke competitor, who finished 5th at the British Championships.
Chloe Robyns-Landricombe will compete in the -57kg category, having most recently finished 5th at the British Championships.
In the -63kg category, Roxanne Proctor and Phoebe Digweed join the lineup. Proctor placed 5th at the Montreal Panamerican Open in late 2024 and secured silver at the British Championships. Digweed, who also finished 5th at the British Championships, had success in Africa last year, winning silver at the Marrakech Junior African Cup.
Rounding off the new additions for Tunis is Holly Devall, a British Championships bronze medallist. She had an active 2024 season, claiming gold at the Kaunas Junior European Cup and bronze at the Birmingham Junior European Cup.

Samorin Cadet European Cup 2025
The third and final international event featuring British judoka is in Samorin, with an impressive 39 athletes set to compete in the Slovakian tournament.
Coen Gilbert looks promising in the -50kg category after finishing 5th at the Genova Cadet European Cup last week. He is also the reigning British Champion. Evan Anderson, the defending British Champion in both the Cadet and Junior divisions, will take on the -55kg category. Archie Strong, one of the most exciting competitors at the 2024 Cadet British Championships, is set to compete in the -66kg division.
Sara Coni is the most recent British judoka to secure a major win, having claimed gold at the Genova Cadet European Cup last week. She is also the reigning British Champion and will take on the -44kg category in Samorin. Taylor Chrisp, another British Champion, will compete in the -48kg category after finishing 5th in Genova, looking to build on her strong performances.
Lucy Robinson stands out in the -52kg division after winning gold in both the Cadet and Junior British Championships. She also took bronze last year at both the Montreal Cadet Panamerican Cup and the Riga Cadet European Cup.
In the -57kg category, Aleksandra Dudko is one to watch, having claimed gold at the Cadet British Championships, finished 5th in the Juniors, and secured bronze last year at the Montreal Junior Panamerican Cup.
