British Representation in Three International Judo Tournaments This Weekend
This weekend, British judokas will be in action at three international tournaments across Europe!
They’ll be competing at the European Open in Ljubljana, the Junior European Cup in Sarajevo, and the Cadet European Cup in Genova. With top British talent representing the nation in each event, it’s set to be an exciting weekend of judo on the international stage, with the action unfolding on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of February.
In Ljubljana, eight British athletes will be fighting for top honours, while 14 will compete in Sarajevo and 17 will take to the mat in Genova.
European Open – Ljubljana
In the -60kg category, British judokas Ayoub Dafallah and Benjamin Caldwell will both compete, aiming to make their mark. In the -66kg category, Neil Macdonald will be the sole British entry.
The -73kg category features three British athletes: Oliver Short, Irakli Goginashvili, and Cameron Charles, each ready to give their all on the mat in an incredibly competitive division.
To round off the British team in Ljubljana, Logan Campbell and Rory Tyrrell will compete in the -81kg category.

In the -66kg and -73kg categories, there is one British representative in each: Joshua Chrisp in the -66kg and Peter Davies in the -73kg.
The -81kg category will see Jamie Death and Cory O’Neal-Narcis, while in the -90kg, Cameron Hickey and Joseph Kirk will be competing for a strong finish.
In the -52kg category, Maddy Kissenisky will be flying the flag solo, and in the -57kg, two British judokas, Madeleine Birri and Kenady Raine, will take to the mat.
Olivia Delahunty will represent in the -63kg, with Sophia Modaresi competing in the -70kg category.
To round off the British team in Sarajevo, Anya Hassan and Nicole Wood will be competing in the -78kg category.

Cadet European Cup – Genova
The busiest competition of the weekend in terms of British representation, with 17 of our own heading over to Genova to compete across various weight divisions.
In the -50kg category, Coen Gilbert and Luke Hunter will represent Britain, while Evan Anderson and Nikita Gilchenko will compete in the -55kg.
David Gheorghiu and Josh Sweeten will be in the mix for GB in the -60kg, and Archie Strang will take to the mat in the -66kg division.
In the -44kg, GB is represented by Sara Coni, and in the -48kg, four British judokas will be competing: Alexis Buchanan, Nicola Bulga, Stella Cameron, and Taylor Chrisp.
Aleksandra Dudko and Rachel Mclean will represent GB in the -57kg, while Zaffira Edwards, Lori Buchan, and Bronach Mary McGill will compete in the -63kg, closing out the British entrants in Genova.
