VAR controversy after just 22 SECONDS as Spurs star Sissoko handballs to give away penalty leading to Salah goal
LIVERPOOL were awarded a controversial penalty after just 22 seconds of the Champions League final on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah slammed home the spot-kick after Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handled in the area.
Tottenham Hotspur fans were furious after Sadio Mane poked a cross against the midfielder’s chest and it rolled off his oustretched arm.
Referee Damir Skomina allowed for the VAR check to take place before giving Salah the green light to give Liverpool a huge early lead.
It came after just one minute and 48 seconds of the tie, the second fastest goal in Champions League final history.
The fastest came against the Reds, via Paolo Maldini for AC Milan in 2005.
Fans were divided on Twitter as to whether the decision was correct.
