Germany lose another Pyeongchang medal hope to injury
Munich (dpa) - Germany have suffered another injury blow to a medals candidate at next month‘s Olympics after ski crosser Heidi Zacher suffered a cruciate ligament tear in training.The injury on Sunday in Stockholm was confirmed after a scan in Munich on Monday, with Zacher now out for several months.She is the sixth top German winter athlete to suffer a cruciate ligament tear to put them out of the February 9-25 Pyeongchang Olympics.Zacher, like alpine skier Felix Neureuther and ski jumper Severin Freund, was seen as a top medal candidate at the Games after an excellent season.German Ski Federation sports director Wolfgang Meier said: "An injury series like this is simply incredible."Other top German wintersport athletes out are alpine skier Stefan Luitz, ski jumper Svenja Wuerth and freestyle skier Lisa Zimmermann.
