GLAMMED up and ready for a night out, England’s 2018 World Cup line-up of WAGs stopped to pose for a photo outside their hotel.
But there was anger within the team camp after the snap was splashed all over the media – with Rebekah Vardy accused of staging it for the paparazzi.
Harry Maguire’s wife Fern Hawkins was among those upset over the photo, taken during the contest in Russia, claiming she was “embarrassed” and unprepared.
During yesterday’s explosive Wagatha Christie trial at the High Court – where Vardy is suing Coleen Rooney for substantial libel damages – she denied setting up the shot.
Vardy claimed it was actually Annie Kilner, wife of Manchester City and England defender Kyle Walker, who suggested they go out for a photograph.

Millie Savage – John Stones’ ex
As he rose through the ranks at Barnsley academy to become an England regular, Stones’ childhood sweetheart Millie was by his side all the way.
The couple met at Penistone Grammar School in South Yorkshire when they were 12.

Stones, 27, reportedly has a tattoo of Millie’s face on his arm, which he got inked after allegations that he cheated on her with events manager Jessica Peaty in 2016.
The couple share a daughter, who they welcomed in 2017.
But in November 2018, just four months after Millie cheered him on in Russia, Stones unexpectedly packed a bag and quit their £3.4million Cheshire mansion.
A pal told The Sun: “She’s devastated. He left with no real explanation.”
Not long after, Millie claimed she got an Instagram message telling her Stones was dating beautician Olivia Naylor – and that he’d “had a baby to her”.
Olivia’s baby was born a month after Stones left Millie — but the child is not his.
In an interview with The Sun in 2020, Millie admitted the ensuing two years had been “hell” and claimed Stones had been “an a**hole”.
She said World Cup fame had gone to his head, adding: “I thought we’d spend our lives together but I feel he’s become a bully.”

Millie also accused Manchester City defender Stones of spying on her during lockdown by accessing her home CCTV via an app.
She said: “He was sending messages about my comings and goings. I was creeped out. I felt like I was being constantly watched.”
Stones was spoken to by cops but not suspected of committing any offence.
Millie has since moved into a new home paid for by Stones, where she can stay until their daughter turns 18.
A source close to Stones said: “John is a devoted and loving father and his priority has and always will be the welfare and total privacy of his daughter.
“He denies and refutes the version of events described and has always gone above and beyond since his break up with Millie to protect his daughter.”
Gemma Acton – Gary Cahill’s wife
Childhood sweethearts Gemma Acton and AFC Bournemouth defender Gary Cahill, 36, have also been together since meeting at school in Derbyshire – and they’re still going strong.
The couple, who now live in Surrey, married in 2013 and share two children, Leo and Freya.
At their wedding, guests were encouraged to make a donation to the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in Sheffield, which provides care to children with a shortened life expectancy.
This pair prefer to stay out of the limelight, rarely sharing social media snaps.
Megan Davison – Jordan Pickford’s wife
Megan, 26, is a regular fixture at Everton goalie Jordan Pickford’s matches – especially when he’s playing for England.
The couple met at school (can you spot a pattern emerging?) and have been together since she was 14.
They enjoyed a very casual wedding in Crewe in March 2020, after postponing their Maldives plans due to Covid.
Pickford wore a baseball cap and ripped jeans while Megan sported Givenchy studded boots.
They share a three-year-old son, Arlo George. The couple once shared a cute photo of the newborn’s baby grow, which read: “My daddy likes to… ‘Get the rave on!’, a catchphrase that has stuck with Pickford since his days at Burton Albion in 2013.
Megan, who graduated from university in 2019, isn’t shy about sharing snaps on Instagram of her family, and boasts 96,000 followers.
But she sparked controversy in December after sharing an Instagram post which appeared to support anti-vax protestors at the disruptive Freedom March in London.
Megan posted a snap of an attendee holding a placard which read: “Even if you’re not conspiracy minded, something in your soul has to say…something is wrong.”
The photo appears to have since been deleted from her account.
Annabelle Peyton – Jack Butland’s fiancee
Another WAG who likes to keep a low profile is Annabelle Peyton – engaged to Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland, 29.
The couple, who met in Dubai, got together in 2016, after Jack was dumped by his childhood sweetheart Steph Parsons.
They got engaged two years later in April 2018 in Italy, and are now parents to two sons, George, three, and Freddie, one.
Butland previously told MailOnline that he “owes the world” to “incredible” Annabelle, after she helped him recover from an injury.
Annabelle – a former air hostess for Emirates – keeps her Instagram account private, but now and again proud Butland shares a sweet snap of the two of them together.
Fern Hawkins – Harry Maguire’s new wife
These two lovebirds tied the knot in secret yesterday at Crewe Register Office, with only close friends and family in the know.
Manchester United captain Maguire, 29, went straight from training to the ceremony.
The couple are expected to take their marriage vows again in France this summer at a romantic chateau venue.
Maguire began dating Fern, also 29, in 2011 when the pair were teenagers and they got engaged in February 2018.
They welcomed daughter Lillie Saint in April 2019, and their second, Piper Rose, in May 2020.
Fern graduated with a first class honours bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy in 2017.
Shannon Horlock – Nick Pope’s girlfriend
Publicity-shy Shannon met Burnley keeper Nick Pope, 30, in 2013.
Preferring to stay out of the limelight, Shannon keeps her social media pages private – but did share a sweet Facebook tribute to her fella on their three year anniversary.
She wrote: “You make me feel happy, proud and loved every single day.”
It’s believed the couple share a daughter, who was born in 2019.
Annie Kilner – Kyle Walker’s wife
Kyle Walker, 31, has scored a few own goals during his relationship with now-wife Annie Kilner.
The pair began dating in their teens, with Annie admitting it was “love at first sight”.
They share three sons – Roman, Riaan and Reign – and Annie has admitted to wanting a girl.
But Annie dumped Walker after Ex on the Beach star Laura Brown claimed she enjoyed romps with the Manchester City player in his £200k Bentley.
Annie kicked him out of their Cheshire home, but they got back together.
Walker has since been embroiled in a number of steamy encounters – culminating in a coronavirus lockdown sex party with two hookers in April 2020.
He bedded Lauryn Goodman in 2019 and became a dad for the fourth time the following April. Annie branded him “gutless” because he broke the news over the phone.
She said in 2020: “What he has done to me and our children is obscene.”

But Annie forgave him and the couple are now back together after Walker popped the question in 2020 with a £250K engagement ring.

Lucia Loi – Marcus Rashford’s girlfriend
Lucia was thrust into the limelight when she was spotted cheering on Manchester United star Rashford, 24, in the stands during the England vs Colombia match at the 2018 World Cup.
It’s believed the pair met at Mersey School in Greater Manchester, but they have largely kept their relationship away from the public eye.
Last year it was reported the couple had broken up after eight years amid lockdown pressures, but still had a “mutual love and respect”.
