Antonio Conte shares his opinion on Hugo Lloris’ contract situation at Spurs

Antonio Conte has shared his point of view on the contract situation of Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris

The France international and 2018 World Cup winner has entered the final year of his current deal and will be free to talk to foreign clubs in January over the possibility of signing a pre-contract ahead of next season.

Tottenham, though, are said to be confident of striking an agreement of fresh terms, while Conte clarified his intentions to keep the 34-year-old goalkeeper as part of his future plans.

Although Lloris’ loyalty to Spurs cannot be questioned given his 390 appearances for the club, the potential of a move away from N17 won’t be ruled out until pen is put to paper.

Conte was pressed on if he was worried about the possibility of Lloris moving on at the conclusion of his contract, but played down any concern while stating he ‘will never be a problem’ for Spurs.

He said (via Football.London): “Hugo is our captain and a player that played for Tottenham for many years and we are all happy to have him in our team, squad, dressing room, and for sure he is a point of reference for the other players and Hugo knows very well what I think about him and what the club think about him.

“Now we will see. But Hugo will never be a problem for Tottenham.”

Lloris’ contract running down is obviously a worry – especially considering he hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. For such a loyal servant of the club, he deserves a nice bump up in his current deal and hopefully talks can intensify soon.

He once again showed his quality during the 2-2 draw against Liverpool with a strong of important saves.
