President Buhari hosts Super Eagles in presidential villa, urges them to make Nigeria proud (photos)

- President Muhammadu Buhari has on Wednesday May 30 charged the Super Eagles to make the country proud at the 2018 FIFA World Cup

- The president hosted the team at the presidential villa in Aso Rock

- And team captain Mikel Obi in his reaction said that the team is well motivated to bring back the trophy

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Wednesday May 30 charged the Super Eagles to make the country proud at the 2018 FIFA World Cup which starts on June 14 in Russia.

Buhari received the team at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja while urging the team to make the nation proud. He said: “We look up to you to make us proud.”

The Captain of the team, Mikel Obi who took a rather optimistic stance said: “All we have to do now is to go out there and make the country proud and come back with the trophy.”

Noting that Super Eagles is one of the least experienced teams in the tournament, the President urged the players to take advantage of Nigerians’ support.

Buhari reminded the players they carry the emotions of 180 million Nigerians each time they go out to the pitch to play.

According to him, nothing unites Nigeria more than football.

The Super Eagles as well as the President's personal assistant on new media Bashir Ahmad also took to social media to share photos of the Eagles visitation to the presidential villa.

NAIJ.com previously reported that four Super Eagles players' World Cup hopes have been dashed after being dropped by German coach Gernot Rohr.

The Nigerian team are expected to be hosted by President Muhammadu Buhari before travelling to London in preparation for the friendly match against England at the Wembley Stadium.

The players dropped includes; Dele Ajiboye, Uche Agbo, Stephen Eze, and Junior Lokosa.
