As much as the teenager may claim he’s happy and settled in Leipzig, if you’re prepared to admit you’re motivated by transfer talk, the idea of a summer move must at least be partly on the mind.

The Mo Salah succession plan?

Our initial suspicions were that Diomande was being looked at to reinforce Liverpool’s rather uninspiring left flank.

Cody Gakpo, it seems, is unfit to take on the mantle of our starting left-sided winger following Luis Diaz’s summer switch to Bayern Munich.

However, with Rio Ngumoha emerging as a serious contender for more minutes in the backend of the season, we have to wonder how wise it would be to potentially block the teenager’s pathway.

With Mo Salah set to depart this summer, however, this represents the perfect opportunity to inject fresh blood into the right wing without creating problems within the squad next term.

Although more naturally left-sided, it hasn’t gone unnoticed here at Empire of the Kop that Yan Diomande has featured primarily on the right in 2025/26.

Not to mention, he appears more than capable of providing impact with his weaker left foot.

It’s the perfect time to get a deal like this over the line. Of course, Diomande could be a pipe dream if we can’t first secure Champions League football.
