Tottenham discover James Trafford price tag: Aston Villa also want Man City keeper
Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay a considerable fee to land their top goalkeeping target James Trafford this summer.
Guglielmo Vicario is expected to return to Serie A this summer, and it has been widely reported over recent weeks that Tottenham have identified Trafford as the man to replace the Italian goalkeeper.
The 23-year-old made a £27m switch from Burnley to Manchester City last summer but has been struggling for starts at the Etihad this term, having served as Gianluigi Donnarumma’s understudy.
The Lilywhites have now discovered that they need to pay considerably more than what City paid for him last summer to land the England international.

The Daily Mail have now become the latest outlet to confirm that Trafford is Spurs’ preferred choice to take over the gloves from Vicario this summer
The outlet backs up what we have heard from other sources by stating that Spurs face competition from Aston Villa for the City man, with the Villans said to hold ‘long-standing interest’ in the goalkeeper.
The report reveals Trafford is also attracting interest from abroad, but Pep Guardiola’s men have no intention of letting their number two leave on the cheap.
It is suggested that an offer of around £35m-£40m is needed to prise Trafford away from the Manchester club this summer.
What is Trafford’s stance on his future?
It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Newcastle United may are also challenge Spurs for the 23-year-old this summer.
It was claimed a couple of days ago by TEAMtalk that Trafford is willing to swap City for Tottenham if Spurs offer guarantees of being their number one.
In fact, the outlet claimed that the goalkeeper may be willing to sign for the Lilywhites even if they get relegated, but that appears unlikely at the moment, given that other Premier League clubs are also showing interest in the former Burnley star.
