Blow for Carrick: Trusted 27yo star absent from Man Utd squad for Ireland trip
Manchester United have officially unveiled their 25-man squad set to travel to Dublin for an important mid-season training camp.
The Red Devils have embarked on a four-day intensive training camp in Ireland.
United find themselves in the middle of a rare three-week break, brought about by international fixtures and recent FA Cup commitments.
Here is the full squad selected for the training camp:
Goalkeepers: Altay Bayindir, Senne Lammens, Dermot Mee, Fred Heath
Defenders: Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw, Ayden Heaven, Yuel Helafu
Midfielders: Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, Jim Thwaites
Forwards: Matheus Cunha, Joshua Zirkzee, Amad, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, Victor Musa
One notable absentee from the travelling group is Diogo Dalot.
Dalot has been one of the most trusted figures under head coach Michael Carrick, starting nine of the last 10 matches.
The only occasion he was left out of the starting XI came in the narrow 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United.
United have confirmed that Dalot has stayed at home to recover from illness. Tom Heaton is also absent from the above group for the same reason.
Carrick will be hoping that Dalot can make a swift recovery as the right-back has delivered improved displays in recent weeks.
The 27-year-old has been constantly making attacking runs and also looks more willing to deliver crosses into the box.
He represented Portugal against Mexico and the United States of America in the most recent international break.
With just seven games left in the campaign, it is crucial for Carrick to have a fully fit squad available for the decisive final stretch.
