Man Utd confirm new contract for 19yo wonderkid who could replace Diogo Dalot in future
Manchester United have put their faith in one of their academy youngsters who could turn into a future superstar.
Man United have confirmed that Jaydan Kamason has signed a new contract that will run until 2028, with the option of a further year.
The young right-back joined the academy’s Emerging Talent Programme (ETP) at the age of 10 and signed a professional contract at the club in 2023.
He was part of the United squad that travelled to Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong for the post-season tour last year.
He is highly rated at the academy but must now aim to take big steps in his development.
United have two reliable options in Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui at right-back.
While both are dependable performers, neither has yet cemented himself as a truly world-class option capable of transforming the position.
Looking ahead, the Red Devils may revisit the right-back position in the summer of 2027 as part of their long-term squad planning.
Kamason has immense potential. He is an attacking right-back, who loves to stretch the defence and contribute in the final third.
Injuries have restricted his game-time this season but he would still be happy to make a step up to the Under-21s.
A loan move next campaign could be pivotal, providing him with regular minutes and the platform to refine his attacking instincts.
Equally important will be his defensive development, as he looks to add discipline and consistency to his game.
If he can prove his worth in 2026-27 season, United may promote him to the senior set-up and let him compete with Dalot for the starting right-back spot.
