"Could leave": Man Utd must do everything to sign £44m Real Madrid star ahead of PSG
Manchester United are preparing for a busy summer with the prospect of multiple signings.
A marquee holding midfielder is expected to be signed, with Casemiro set to leave. The Brazilian star will walk away when his contract expires at the end of June.
United have been linked with several Premier League midfielders in recent months, but they could now get the opportunity to sign one of Real Madrid’s finest.
AS today (page 7) claim Eduardo Camavinga’s future at Madrid is uncertain. ‘His future is open’ amid his reduced playing time in the club’s midfield this season.
Camavinga ‘could leave’ this summer. Paris Saint-Germain are weighing up an approach, but they are not alone with reported interest from the Premier League too.
Man Utd must seek to sign Camavinga ahead of PSG
United were in a similar transfer tussle with PSG for Benfica midfielder Joao Neves two years ago. The Portuguese eventually opted to join Les Parisiens instead.
In the same summer, the Red Devils recruited Manuel Ugarte as a potential successor to Casemiro, but the Uruguayan has been playing second fiddle to the 34-year-old.
Ugarte could be shown the exit door this summer. There is a possibility that United could pursue a secondary defensive midfielder after a marquee signing is sorted.
In our view, Camavinga would be an outstanding acquisition. The Rennes graduate has averaged just 55 minutes per La Liga game this term. It has been quite similar in previous years.
The 23-year-old has recently fallen out of favour for a starting spot due to fierce competition for places and could be prepared to join a club where he has guaranteed minutes.
United could be a perfect team in the prime of his career. Looking at his stats, Camavinga has completed 91 percent of his passes in La Liga this season and won 63 percent of his duels.
He has also won two tackles per outing with three recoveries. Camavinga is known for his ball control and has lost possession on just five occasions per match for Los Blancos.
The Red Devils are yearning for a player of his calibre. United are on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League. It could play a big part in convincing the midfielder.
PSG are a lucrative destination following their Champions League success (2025), but United would offer Camavinga the perfect project with the prospect of winning trophies.
Hence, United must do everything to bring him to Old Trafford if he leaves Madrid this summer.
Marca have claimed that Camavinga could be permitted to depart for £44 million. With three years left on his contract and his young age, Madrid are bound to hold out for much more.
