Serie A 2025/26: Italian title contenders face pivotal weekend
Matchday 31 of the 2025/26 Serie A season could be pivotal in determining the outcome of the title race and battle to finish in the top four.
Inter Milan are the bookmakers’ favourites to claim top spot having established a six-point advantage over local rivals AC Milan with eight games remaining.
However, given that I Nerazzurri have shown signs of vulnerability in recent weeks, it would be foolish to completely write off their title rivals.
With that in mind, read on as we look at this weekend’s Serie A fixtures, before assessing the impact they could have on issues at the top end of the table.

Sunday, April 5

Serie A 2025/26: Inter bidding to fend off their title rivals
Despite picking up just two points from their last three league games, Inter are rated as the overwhelming favourites to win Serie A. The latest outright odds are as follows:
- Inter Milan – 1/10
- AC Milan – 12/1
- Napoli – 12/1
- Como – 500/1
- Juventus – 500/1
- Roma – 500/1
A six-point lead with eight games remaining is a healthy position for Inter to be in, but as those who regularly bet on football know, the picture could change dramatically over the next couple of weeks.
Inter are scheduled to host Roma On Sunday before travelling to Como the following weekend. Neither fixture will be easy given that both sides are in contention for a top four finish.
A record of just three wins in eight fixtures against the other teams currently in the top six highlight why Inter should take nothing for granted.
Inter will be desperate to increase their advantage over the chasing pack, particularly with their two main title rivals going head-to-head the following day.
Napoli head into the weekend seven points behind Inter. Anything less than a victory over Milan will probably end their faint title hopes.
They have been in excellent form in recent weeks, reeling off four consecutive victories to move just one point behind Milan in the standings.
Milan bounced back from their recent defeat at Lazio by beating Torino at the San Siro, and will be desperate to follow up on Monday night.
Both sides need to pick up three points to ensure they can maintain a modicum of pressure on Inter at the top of the standings.
Serie A 2025/26: Juventus fancied to sneak into the top four
Inter, Milan and Napoli look nailed on to finish in the top four. However, predicting which team will fill the other spot is no easy task. Here are the latest odds:
- AC Milan – 1/500
- Napoli – 1/500
- Como – 8/15
- Juventus – 13/8
- Roma – 5/1
- Atalanta – 66/1
Como have defied expectations this season to climb into the top four. Qualifying for the Champions League is now a distinct possibility.
However, they face some tricky fixtures over the next few weeks, which could leave them vulnerable to being overhauled by Juventus or Roma.
Juventus stand out as the value bet at odds of 13/8 to end the season inside the top four. They have been in this position before and know what it takes to get the job done.
Como are scheduled to visit Udinese on Monday before hosting Inter the following weekend. Juventus face Genoa (H) and Atalanta (A) in their next two games.
With Como also scheduled to play the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final against Inter in April, fatigue could become a factor in the top four race.
Roma will also believe they can force their way into the top four, especially if they can take something from their visit to the San Siro this weekend.
The composition of their remaining fixtures is fairly favourable, which boosts their chances of securing Champions League qualification.
The top four battle could feasibly go down to the final weekend, where each of the three main contenders face away fixtures.
Roma are scheduled to visit Verona, Juventus travel to Torino and Como head to Cremonese. All three games have the potential to be tricky, and will be great viewing on TV or via soccer streams.
Verona may have been relegated by the time they face Roma – a factor which could allow them to play with a little more freedom with the pressure off.
Torino and Cremonese are also at the wrong end of the table and will likely need a positive result on the final day to avoid the drop.
