FIFA pushes back award of 2031 and 2035 Women’s World Cup hosting to end of year
April 1 – FIFA has postponed the award of the hosting rights for the Women’s World Cup 2031 following the failure by Donald Trump to sign off on the guarantees FIFA requires from the US government.
Those guarantees cover commitments on visas, tax exemptions, and security. The US Soccer Federation is leading the four-nation joint bid for the finals, which will be hosted with Mexico, Costa Rica and Jamaica. While the Mexican, Costa Rican and Jamaican FAs have got their governments over the line on the guarantees,
