There has been a huge development in Roberto De Zerbi’s future after Tottenham Hotspur stepped up talks with the Italian coach.

It has been widely reported over the last few days that De Zerbi remains Tottenham’s top target to replace Igor Tudor.

Even though De Zerbi had rejected Spurs’ initial proposal, talks continued, and the Lilywhites took a big step on Monday morning.

According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham decided to offer De Zerbi a five-year contract with tempting guarantees, which the 46-year-old was much more receptive to.

Fabrizio Romano is now reporting that the Italian coach has reached a full five-year contract agreement with Spurs to be their next head coach.

De Zerbi will take charge of the Lilywhites after Tudor’s departure and will spearhead the club’s push for Premier League survival, starting with the clash against Sunderland.

Have Spurs taken a gamble with the De Zerbi appointment?

Rather than going for a manager who has plenty of experience with relegation battles, such as Sean Dyche, the Spurs hierarchy has opted for a ‘long-term solution’ in De Zerbi.
