Easter preview: Highworth derby highlight of busy weekend
Easter Monday promises a derby thriller when Royal Wootton Bassett Town host Highworth Town to cap off a busy weekend in the Hellenic League Premier Division (Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, 3pm kick off). Both sides are playing for pride and position in the table as the season nears its end - and for Bassett victory is vital if they are to retain any hopes of finishing above their near neighbours. Jonny Aitkenhead's side will also be aiming to finally get one over Highworth at the third time of asking this season. When the teams met in the reverse league fixture back in September, Bassett had much the better chances during the game only to suffer a 1-0 defeat. A Wiltshire Premier Shield tie in October then saw Bassett surrender a 2-0 lead in stoppage time before losing on penalties. Admission on Monday - Bassett's penultimate home game of the season - is £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members. Both teams will go into that match on less than 48 hours' rest, with Bassett visiting Mangotsfield United on Saturday (3pm kick off). The Mangos are battling for a top half finish - with Bassett seeking to dent those hopes and avenge a 2-0 home loss in September. Also on Saturday the Development team face an away derby against their Swindon Supermarine equivalents in their penultimate Wiltshire League Premier Division game of the season (3pm kick off). Mark Simpkins' side will be aiming to bounce back after consecutive league defeats, though face a stern test against a Supermarine side who have their eyes set on finishing above Larkhall Athletic Development who they are battling for runners-up spot. - Royal Wootton Bassett Town Men's First Team are proudly sponsored by Imagine Cruising.
