DARTS WOMEN DRAW AT BRENTFORD AFTER EQUALISER IN ADDED TIME!


London and South East Regional Women’s Premier League, played on Sunday 29th March 2026.

Darts Women were back on the road on Sunday as they headed to West London to face promotion rivals, Brentford FC Women.

The visitors began the game brightly and went close to opening the scoring early in the first half. In the 11th minute, a well worked set piece routine from the Darts, saw a shot from Gabby Howell well saved by Brentford keeper, Saskia Reeves-Priestley.

The hosts began to grow in the game as the first period rolled on and were ahead midway through the half. In the 19th minute, a shot from Katie Gilligan on the half turn, nestled in the bottom corner to put the Bees ahead.

The Darts reacted well to going behind and went close to equalising 10 minutes before the break. In the 35th minute, Lizzie Adams’ cross found Paris Smith in the 6yd box and the header on goal from the Darts forward was held by the keeper.

The visitors continued to create chances for the equaliser and were level in added time. In the first minute of added time, an Abbey Davies free kick midway inside the Bees half found the back of the net.

The team began the second half with real intent and went close early in the half. In the 51st minute, pinball inside the Brentford box saw the ball fall to Xayla-Rae Alberts, the shot from the Darts captain came back off the post.

The Darts went close again midway through the second half to going in front. In the 67th minute, a long throw from Gabby Howell was headed on at the front post by Paris Smith into the path of Shauni Griffiths. The header from the Darts forward was held by Reeves-Priestley.

The visitors went ahead late in the second half. In the 80th minute, Lizzie Adams with a wonder strike 30yds from goal, the volley flew over the keeper and dropped into the goal to put the Darts ahead.

The team looked to be heading home with all three points until they suffered a late setback in added time. In the 94th minute, the referee pointed to the spot after Asees Sangha was fouled in the box. Maddie Phillips stepped up and slotted home for the hosts.
