Gaynor’s Goal

As part of Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, Alan is fundraising in aid of “Gaynor’s Goal”, with proceeds being shared between Target Ovarian Cancer and St. Rocco’s Hospice.

Alan explained: “Over the 32 days between March 17th and April 18th, I have undertaken to run the equivalent distance from Eco-Power Stadium, home of Doncaster Rovers Football Club to Manchester United’s Old Trafford.

“All in it is 105 km, and as my work takes me all around the country, I will be fitting this in after work and visiting as many different football stadiums along the way.

“This is all for our very good friend Patricia Hamill-Morgan who lost her beloved wife Gaynor Hamill-Morgan to Ovarian Cancer, an illness that is so often diagnosed too late and made a promise she would spread the word to as many people as possible.”

At the time of writing, Alan has already visited the stadiums of Doncaster Rovers, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, Notts County, West Bromwich Albion and Wolves, as he racks up the steps to his target.

Alan is also a neighbour of our Licensee and Bar Manager Sylvie Jones and in a sad twist of fate, many of you will know that Sylvie was recently herself diagnosed with the illness and is currently undertaking treatment.

Alan added: “Many of you will know Steve Duly from his time at the club, who is also the long-term partner of Sylvie’s daughter Sam. We have become close friends and over the last few months, together formed Farnborough Pickleball Club.

“Steve wanted to help the cause, which now has personal reasons for him. On Saturday 28th March, Steve will be joining me in running the 8km from Fleet Town FC to Farnborough FC, arriving hopefully in time for the match!”
