Yate Town 2-2 Poole Town – Match Report
Poole Town fought back to earn a point on Tuesday evening against Yate Town.
The Dolphins came into the game off the back of the 1-0 defeat to Gosport Borough and were in need of bouncing back on the road.
Joe Lea and Pat Suraci made three changes with Ik Hill, Kris Campbell and Dan Carr all coming into the starting eleven.
The game got underway with neither side able to grasp control in the early stages.
The first real chance of the match fell the way of Poole with Shaquille Gwengwe being played in behind and he converted for his 39th goal in all competitions.
Poole remained in search of a second, but as the half progressed, the home side grew into the game.
Yate found their equaliser on the 36th minute through Josh Bennett as his cross somehow found its way past Adam Parkes and into the back of the net.
The hosts continued to push on and were on top for the remainder of the first half.
It didn’t take long for them to take the lead, this time through Rex Mannings who fired a fantastic strike into the top right hand corner to give Yate the lead before the break.
The second half continued in similar fashion with both sides having limited chances.
Dan Carr went close on the 52nd minute, his set piece effort crashed off the woodwork, with the rebound being cleared away.
Mannings went close to a third for Yate after some nice build up play, however Poole’s backline remained resolute.
The Dolphins finally found their equaliser, a brilliant ball into the area from substitute Antonio Diaz found Harvey Slade on the volley and he rifled it home.
With both sides in search of a winner, Yate went close through Archie Taylor as his placed effort bounced off the post again.
With seconds remaining, Poole were narrowly away from finding that decisive third goal, but Gwengwe was unable to get the final touch to poke it home.
The full time whistle was blown with both sides taking a point from this one; next up for Poole is a home match against Bracknell Town this Saturday.
