£73m Man Utd star '100% certain' to leave, player 'informed' of club talks

0 0

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is poised to pursue a new challenge when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The England international is presently on a season-long loan at Aston Villa, but the Midlands outfit have no plans to prolong his stay.

Sancho’s current deal with United includes an option to extend for another 12 months, but the Red Devils are unlikely to exercise it.

Sky Sport Germany now report that Sancho is ‘100 percent certain’ to leave United this summer and has yet to choose his next club.

Talks have already taken place between Borussia Dortmund and Sancho’s representatives.

Dortmund president Hans-Joachim Watzke is the driving force behind the discussions after the exit of sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

Sancho is ‘fully informed’ about the talks. Dortmund believe he would be willing to accept a pay cut to return to the club on a free transfer.

Sancho is likely to rejoin Dortmund

The 25-year-old signed for the Villans on a season-long loan last summer. He has been disappointing with just four goal contributions from 31 appearances.

Sancho currently earns a basic salary of £250,000 per week. Unai Emery’s side are paying around £200,000 weekly as part of the temporary deal for the campaign.

Villa have no desire to keep him on a permanent transfer, and Dortmund now appear determined to bring him to German football for a third occasion.

Dortmund signed Niklas Sule on a free transfer a few years ago, and he is the highest earner at the club at £166,000 per week, just ahead of Serhou Guirassy.

Hence, Sancho may have to accept a 35 percent pay cut to make the switch. Some of the reduction could be offset by a large signing-on bonus this summer.

United spent a staggering £73 million to sign Sancho from Dortmund in 2021. The decision has not proved worthwhile, as he has failed to adapt to the league.

Sancho has played his best football in the Bundesliga with Dortmund. A return to familiar surroundings would help revive his career as he enters the prime phase.

The Red Devils won’t get anything out of the move, but they will cut off his £13 million annual salary from their wage bill, which should prove handy in negotiating player contracts.
