10 Afghanistan Football Players Withdraw Ahead of Asian Cup Qualifiers

0 4

The Afghanistan Football Federation said 10 national team players have withdrawn from the squad ahead of upcoming copetition in the Asian Cup qualifiers.

The federation cited family issues, security concerns in the Middle East, and club-related injuries as the main reasons behind the late withdrawals.

Afghanistan was scheduled to face Myanmar and Syria in the qualification matches. Officials said most of the players had initially confirmed their availability but pulled out at the last moment, creating challenges for team preparations.

Head coach Jose Antonio Nogueira said the team may shift its focus toward domestic players after these matches to build a more committed and accessible squad.

Afghanistan’s national team has faced repeated challenges in recent years, including instability, limited resources, and difficulties in maintaining a consistent player base.

Security concerns and logistical issues have often affected player availability, especially for those based abroad or in sensitive regions.

Despite the setbacks, the federation says efforts to rebuild and strengthen the national team will continue, with a focus on long-term development and stability.
