Match Preview
After Saturday’s fine 3-1 win over Airdrie, Raith Rovers will be looking to make it two league wins in succession for the first time since August this Tuesday, when Partick Thistle are the visitors to Stark’s Park.
A goal from Innes Cameron and a brace from Kai Montagu sealed a comeback win for the Rovers, after Adam Devine had given the Diamonds the lead ten minutes into the second half.
The win left Rovers seventh in the table, although a victory in this one would lift them back up to fifth.
However, it’s just as important a game for Mark Wilson’s side, with anything other than a win for them a huge blow to their title aspirations.
Friday’s televised 0-0 draw between the Jags and St Johnstone left the Perth side eight points clear at the top, albeit having played a game more, but with just six games remaining after this one, Thistle are running out of time to overhaul Simo Valakari’s side.
These two can’t be split in terms of the head-to-head record this season, with a draw and one win apiece from the three previous encounters.
Rovers found themselves two down early on in the first match at Firhill in August, and while Dylan Easton and Ross Matthews restored parity before the interval, a Logan Chalmers strike won it for the home side with 15 minutes remaining.
Rovers won the last meeting at Stark’s Park in October, thanks to second half goals from Easton and Paul Hanlon, while the third outing in Maryhill just before Christmas finished goalless.
Thistle haven’t won a league match at Stark’s Park in 13 attempts, since their last victory back in 2011, but they did come out on top in the second leg of the Premiership playoff semi-final in 2024, only for Rovers to reach the final after a penalty shoot-out.
Tuesday evening’s match referee will be Dan McFarlane.
Head-to-Head Record:
Raith Rovers wins: 58
Partick Thistle wins: 71
Draws: 44
