Ten players who could leave if Tottenham are relegated from the Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of survival took another massive hit on Sunday evening following a crushing 3-0 defeat at home to fellow relegation battlers Nottingham Forest.
Spurs had built up a head of steam going into the fixture, having ended their six-match losing streak with a point against reigning champions Liverpool.
The Tottenham dressing room received another massive lift after Igor Tudor’s beleaguered troops secured a 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid in their Champions League last 16 second leg clash.
It wasn’t enough to salvage their Champions League hopes after suffering a 5-2 humiliation in the first leg, but it was considered a massive morale boost in the dressing room.
However, Tottenham failed to build on those results in Sunday’s crucial relegation six-pointer, which has now heightened the prospect of relegation.
Tottenham are yet to win a single Premier League game in 2026, and Sunday’s defeat has left them in 17th place in the table, just one above the drop zone with seven games to go.
For a club with one of the highest wage bills in the Premier League, relegation would spark considerable upheaval in the summer.
Let’s assess which players could leave if Tottenham fail to secure their Premier League status.
Guglielmo Vicario
Guglielmo Vicario hasn’t been in the best form for Tottenham this season, but that’s unlikely to impact his chances of leaving the club if they get relegated.
The Italian has already been linked with a return to his homeland, with several Serie A clubs monitoring his situation.
Micky van de Ven
Micky van de Ven could leave Tottenham at the end of the season, even if Tudor’s side manages to keep their heads above water.
The Netherlands international has already been linked with a big-money move away from Tottenham, with La Liga duo Barcelona and Real Madrid rumoured to be interested.
Cristian Romero
Cristian Romero’s Tottenham future has been shrouded in doubt since he revealed his desire to play in Spain at some point in his career.
He has already been strongly linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, and that transfer could be a mere formality if Tottenham go down.
Pedro Porro
Pedro Porro is widely considered one of the best right-backs in Europe and has previously been linked with some of the biggest names across the continent.
It’s unlikely that the Spanish international would stick around to help Spurs secure a swift return to the Premier League if they’re relegated this season.
Xavi Simons
Tottenham broke the bank to bring in Xavi Simons last summer, snatching the Dutchman from the clutch of London rivals Chelsea.
While he has struggled to live up to expectations, the thought of playing in the second tier of English football would hardly appeal to the talented forward.
Randal Kolo Muani
Randal Kolo Muani will likely return to Paris Saint-Germain following an atrocious loan spell in North London. He has hardly been a difference maker for Spurs and is lucky to have a get-out-of-jail-free card.
However, whether he would have entertained the idea of sticking around if Spurs are relegated is anyone’s guess.
Mathys Tel
Tottenham paid around £40 million to sign him on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich.
If they’re relegated, they’ll be forced to cut their losses on the French striker who is reportedly keen on a move back to France.
Mohammed Kudus
Mohammed Kudus was a beacon of hope for Tottenham earlier in the campaign and one of the shining lights in an otherwise embarrassing team.
He has been out of the loop for a while due to injury, but there’s no chance that the Ghanaian would remain at Spurs if they’re relegated.
Dejan Kulusevski
Dejan Kulusevski hasn’t kicked a ball for Spurs in months, but the club will likely fight tooth and nail to keep him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
His injury woes could help their cause, but a player of his quality would want to play at the highest level.
Joao Palhinha
Joao Palhinha was considered a shrewd purchase when he joined from Bayern, but he’s another one who could jump ship if Tottenham fail to secure their Premier League status.
