Famous night as Bay beat 10-man TNS

THE Seagulls produced a famous 2-0 away victory at Cymru Premier Champions The New Saints to consolidate their top three spot in the Championship Conference.

Lewis Sirrell opened the scoring with his third goal of the season and after TNS had goalkeeper Jack Edwards red carded, Jordan Davies added Bay’s second goal seven minutes before half-time.

The Bay set up slightly differently, looking to contain the home side with a low block and hit them on the break and it worked well.

Jordan Davies fired an early chance over the bar and home goalkeeper Jack Edwards did well to smother a floated cross into the area by Jamie Cumming.

The Bay then took the lead on 24 minutes with a looping header by Lewis Sirrell from an excellent free kick into the area.

TNS were caught on the break again and Jordan Davies was brought down outside the area as he just got to a long ball before Edwards, who was shown a straight red card on 27 minutes.

The Bay then quickly capitalised as TNS re-organised at the back, as Ryan Brobbel made way for substitute keeper Bryn Owen, and Jordan Davies turned well in the box fire into the bottom corner of the net from Jamie Cumming’s cross.

Jordan Davies almost added a third before half-time, but his shot was blocked by Jack Bodenham.

In the second half Alex Moore had a shot from the edge of the area tipped away for a corner by Owen and Jordan Davies had a goal disallowed when his shot deflected off Ryan Astles who was deemed to be in an offside position.

TNS almost got a goal back when Dominic Corness saw his shot from 30 yards hit he post, but the Bay saw out the rest of the match, with Alex Brown making a couple of important saves, to chalk up a their first win over the Oswestry-based full-timers.
